Adopt-a-Highway Roadside Cleanup January 2022

RFAN participates in the Adopt-a-Highway roadside cleanup program, maintaining a 4-mile stretch of Highway 12 between Grand Mound & Rochester.  At 9am on Saturday, Jan. 29, over 2-dozen community volunteers met at Swede Hall, ready and eager to get this project started.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to help pick up trash, thanks to those who gave a thumbs up and a smile as they passed us on the highway, and thanks to @HIGHWAY12ESPRESSO for generously donating free coffee to our team of volunteers.

It’s amazing to see how much we can get done in a day with this community’s support.  You picked up 215 bags of garbage!

Rochester Friends and Neighbors Adopts a Highway

Rochester Friends and Neighbors participates in the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Adopt-a-Hwy roadside cleanup program.  During their first roadside cleanup in the spring of 2014, RFAN board members picked up 82 bags of garbage along Highway 12 between Grand Mound and the Outback RV Park.  They continue to maintain that stretch of Highway 12 throughout the year, rain or shine.

RFAN Participates in the Centralia Lighted Tractor Parade

Congratulations to Tom and Melissa Fagerness for being awarded the best antique tractor in the parade.  The RFAN board would like to thank Tom and Melissa for the use of their 1962 Porsche Junior tractor, Brian Ruege for loaning the hay trailer and Sybil Kuhn
for all her help with the decorations.  The RFAN board also thanks everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make the RFAN entry a success.  We couldn’t have done it without the support of our community, and we are already looking forward to next year!
